FAQ

General

1. What products do you offer? We specialize in high-quality night vision devices, including goggles, monoculars, and thermal imaging systems. All our products are built and calibrated in Canada.

2. Are your products available to civilians? Yes, our products are available to both civilian and professional markets, including military, law enforcement, and outdoor enthusiasts.

3. What does FOM (Figure of Merit) mean? FOM (Figure of Merit) is a key specification for night vision tubes, calculated by multiplying the tube’s resolution (in line pairs per millimeter) by its signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Higher FOM values generally indicate better image quality, clarity, and performance in low-light conditions.

4. What is autogating? Autogating is a feature in modern night vision devices that rapidly adjusts the voltage supplied to the photocathode, helping to maintain image clarity in dynamic lighting conditions. It reduces image blooming and prevents damage to the intensifier tube when exposed to bright light.

5. What is the advantage of white phosphor over green phosphor? White phosphor tubes provide a more natural black-and-white image, offering improved contrast and detail recognition. Many users find white phosphor to be less fatiguing to the eyes and more effective in differentiating objects and terrain, especially during prolonged use.

6. What does gain mean in night vision devices? Gain refers to the amplification of light (photons) by the image intensifier tube. It essentially measures how much the available light is multiplied, translating to the overall brightness of the image. In common terms, higher gain can improve visibility in extremely dark environments, but too much gain can lead to a washed-out image. Finding the right balance is key to achieving optimal image quality.

7. What makes up a night vision device and what options do I have as a buyer? A night vision device consists of several key components: the image intensifier tube, lenses, and the housing. We offer two main purchasing options:

  • Starter Kits: These are pre-built systems designed to offer a quick and budget-friendly solution for those who need reliable night vision without the complexity of customization.

  • Custom Built to Order Devices: For those seeking a tailored experience, we offer the option to select specific image intensifier tubes, lenses, and housings. This allows you to build a device that meets your exact performance requirements and budget. Reach out to our team for guidance on choosing the best components for your needs.

8. How do you handle tube availability and selection? We maintain an inventory of night vision tubes with varying specifications. Units are shipped with the tubes currently in stock, ensuring quick delivery times. For those looking to select the best possible tube for their needs, we encourage reaching out to our team. We'll provide detailed information on available tubes and guide you to the best choice based on your intended use and budget.
